Summerdance! at the Parksville Ballet School is an intensive 3 week dance experience under the guidance of recognized staff in a charming vacation setting.  This intensive dance program is for pre-professional dance students aged 12 and up. The exceptional guest teachers and artists provide caring and careful instruction conducive to technical and artistic progress. We invite you to join this staff who will bring to the Summer School a wide variety of performing and teaching expertise and who are known for their excellence in dance training.

  The Summerdance! program is held between the hours of 9:00AM - 4:30PM.  Students should currently be taking a minimum of 3 ballet classes weekly and should have a 3 year minimum experience in dance.  Classes during Summer School will vary in length dependent on the students' age and level of training.   All classes include Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Contemporary.  Pointe classes may be offered to our Senior students as well as Repertoire and Classical Variations.  On July 5th, students will be auditioned and placed in the appropriate level.  Class sizes are limited, so register early!

 Sarah Brewer-Clowes has been a teacher for the past 26 years, teaching in Europe, America and across Canada. She held the position of Assistant Ballet Mistress to the Professional Program in Banff for three summers, a sessional faculty position at Simon Fraser University for four years, as well as a senior faculty position at Main Dance Place for a decade. Sarah has also been choreographing professionally for over 17 years. In the past two decades, Sarah has had the pleasure of adjudicating dance festivals throughout Canada, including two consecutive Provincial competitions, in Victoria and Nelson, B.C. Sarah Brewer Clowes has danced professionally with the Munich Ballet in Germany and the Northwest Florida Ballet in the U.S. She has maintained an independent performing career for the past 18 years and has had the pleasure of working with such esteemed choreographers as Gioconda Barbuto, Crystal Pite, David Earle, Naomi Lefebvre, Wen Wei Wang and Cori Caulfield, to name a few. Sarah loves the passionate expression that sharing dance as a teacher, choreographer and performer can offer and we are so thrilled to have her back on the summer staff this year!!
Joelle Arnusch is originally from Regina and was a member of the Youth Ballet Company of Saskatchewan. She continued her professional training with the School of the Toronto Dance Theatre. After graduating in 1996, she performed the works of a number of Canadian choreographers including Peter Randazzo, David Earle, Allison Cummings, Newton Moraes, and John Ottman. She moved to New York City in 1999 where she danced for 5 years with the Mary Anthony Dance Theatre, as well as performing independently with Beppie Blankert (from the Netherlands,), Ariane Anthony and Company, Shua Group, Racoco Productions, and J Mandlle Performances. Presently, Joelle divides her time between Regina, NYC, and Taipei, Taiwan. In Taipei, she is studying the Kung Fu Art of Bagua, as well as dancing with Chou Shu-yi (Taipei Artist Village, Lin HH Dance Company, and Kaoshiung City Ballet. In NYC, she continues her collaborations with Mary Anthony and Racoco Productions. In Regina, Joelle has had the pleasure of dancing for Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie, Robin Poitras, Robert Regala, and Floyd Favel Starr.
 

Heather Dotto is a diverse performer trained in many forms of dance and theatre.  Heather is currently working professionally as a contemporary dancer as well as teaching and choreographing for different programs in the lower mainland.  Her pieces have won numerous awards at district and provincial festivals.  Heather has been a performing member of Move: The Company since it’s inception in 2005.  She has been privileged to perform, tour, and be artistically involved in many works by Josh Beamish.  Heather has also had the opportunity to perform for a variety of companies and choreographers including; Simone Orlando, Amber Funk-Barton, Choreograph Theatre, Heather Laura Gray, Cardiff Stage Productions, and The New Pornographers.  Her acting credits include various plays, musicals, and the lead role in the short dance film “Perceptions”. 

Beverley Aitchison's teacher training is from the National Ballet School of Canada. She was awarded a grant for advanced studies from the Canada Council, completed both the teachers program and a Licentiate diploma in Cecchetti with awards of distinction and the Advanced level in Cecchetti with honours. She guest taught in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, England and across Canada and set the ballet Seascape on the National Ballet of Portugal while ballet mistress of the Judith Marcuse Company. For the past 14 years, Bev has been located in Montreal teaching at Ecole Superieure de Ballet Contemporain. For the province of Quebec, Bev co-authored a 3 year college level teachers program and a 6 level syllabus for the regions which linked with the professional school. Bev has taught company class for Les Ballets Jazz, Compagnie Marie Chouinard, O Vertigo, Cas Public, Cirque du Soleil and Springboard Danse Montreal, while doing a masters in dance at the Universite du Quebec a Montreal. She is currently on faculty at Arts Umbrella as Senior Ballet Teacher and Curriculum Officer.
